The RED-55-L is a high-speed reflective edge detector using a visible red laser line (Class 2, 670 nm), designed for precise edge detection in industrial automation environments. It operates at a reference distance of 55 mm with a working range of 50 mm to 61 mm and can detect edge heights as small as 0.02 mm. With a maximum scan frequency of 85 kHz and switching frequency of 60 kHz, the RED-55-L is well-suited for dynamic applications such as monitoring edges of newspapers, sheet metal, cardboard, wires, welds, or rotor blades—even on glossy, matte, dark, or bright surfaces. Its robust aluminum housing (IP54 rated) and integrated RS232 interface with PC software (RED-Scope) allow detailed parameterization, diagnostics, and data logging. Applications include high-speed counting, quality control, and positioning tasks in printing, packaging, metal processing, and other manufacturing processes where precise edge recognition is critical.
