Product Description

The P117 converter is intended for connecting probes supporting HART communication of their configuration for the purpose to read measured values via the appropriate software on a PC. The software can be supplied by Paquin and as well, the user can choose to utilize alternative software that is capable of communication via HART® protocol.

Packaged in an aluminum housing, one side of the P117 contains a USB-B port for connection to a PC and the other side contains a 3-pin terminal block.

The P117 includes LEDs for visual status indication.  One LED indicates ongoing communication from the PC to the measuring device / probe and the other indicates ongoing communication from the measuring device / probe to the PC.

The converter also includes a mechanical switch which allows the user to turn the communication HART® resistor (250 Ω) ON or OFF.

In addition to the input and output for HART® communication, the converter also contains a power supply for measuring probes (24 V / 45 mA) with short-circuit protection. With this, it's possible to power and communicate with up to 10 devices at a time, provided that the probes are in the fixed current mode and their current consumption is 4 mA, which is the most common way of connecting multiple measuring probes at a time. Please note that it's necessary to count the voltage drop across the communication HART resistor, which increases with each additional probe connected.

Additionally, the converter can communicate with probes that are powered by their own voltage sources. In this case, the power supply of the converter is not connected.

The P117 is delivered with communication software (user may or may not opt to use it). This software allows the user to make settings, diagnostics and display of the measured values from the probes connected to the converter.
